Feeling Let Down
Disappointment is an unavoidable part of life. We've all experienced it at one point or another. It can be trigger by a failed relationship, an unmet expectation or a missed opportunity. However it occurs, disappointment can be a tough feeling to deal with. It can leave us feeling down and unmotivated. So, how do we cope when we feel let down?First, it's important to acknowledge our feelings. It's okay to feel disappointed and to express our disappointment. Pretending that everything is okay only prolongs the healing process. Instead, we need to give ourselves permission to feel our emotions, and express them in a healthy way, whether it be through talking to a friend or writing in a journal. This helps us process and gradually move on from the disappointment.Shifting Your Perspective
Sometimes, what we perceive as disappointment might be a blessing in disguise. A missed opportunity may lead us to a better opportunity in the future. A breakup might have occurred because we weren't compatible with that person. When we shift our perspective, we are better able to see the lesson that comes with disappointment. It might be difficult to see the positive side of things at first, but with time and reflection, we can gain a new perspective that helps us move on.One helpful way to pivot our perspective is to practice gratitude. Instead of focusing on what is going wrong in our lives, we focus on what is going right. We take inventory of the good things that we have going for us, and that attitude of thankfulness can help alleviate the sting of disappointment.Moving Forward
